From the square in Toscolano turn right to Via Monti and walk along the panoramic street dominating the small harbour of Toscolano. Continue climbing along the side of the mountain as far as the votive shrine with a Cross of the Passion and on among olive groves as far as the fork. Turn right into Via Firenze. Continue to the right along the council road of Gaino and, after the bend, Take the staircase on the right which leads to Via Pulciano – Gaino. At the crossroads with Via dell’Era go up to the left to Via San Michele. A little further on the street turns into a level dirt road which takes to the church of Gaino(1), from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake. Notice the Roman inscription(2) below the belfry of the old church. Go down the cobbled lane and after about 50 mt. turn left into a dirt road taking to the council road. Follow it to your left for about 50 mt., then go down the cemented lane on your left which takes to the asphalt council road below. After about 100 mt. you reach the fork with Via San Michele. Go down to the right and after about 30 mt. turn right into a narrow path flanked by walls and continue until you get to the tryptich on the council road. Cross it and continue downhill along Via Firenze as far as the crossroads . Once there, keep to the right down Via Firenze and then down the panoramic country lane Piè Costa, among luxuriant olive groves set in an enchanting scenery. When you reach the crossroads turn left into Via Trento and continue as far as Piazza Caduti.
